Ok guys I’m late…like ladies get in free before 11 and I show up at 11:02 late 😩. I have to update you guys on how my 90 day no heat challenge has been going. In one word….AWWWWESOME 👏🏾. March and April I have been concentrating on my curl pattern. I’m obsessed with my curl pattern now. It really pops and I honestly believe it’s from not applying heat to it. I still wear a top bun or more recently, a ponytail (no bunning) majority of the time.
If I know I have to go somewhere on Friday, and I want to wear my hair out, I begin my hair prep on Monday. With a deep condition, co-wash and air dry. I’ll air dry on Monday, a loose ponytail on Tuesday-Wednesday and I’ll finger stretch. Thursday, I’ll wear it down and continue to finger stretch, By Friday my hair is stretched and fluffy.
I finally figured out a routine that works for me. May is just days away and I think I’ll hold out from doing my official (flat iron) length check until June.
I know with all of the YouTube gurus and Instagram insiders, people get confused on what and how to use products. It’s really all about using what works for you and finding a routine you’re comfortable with. If I co-wash on Sunday, I’ll try to stick to Sunday, no later than Monday on my cowashing. A year and a half later I’m still using my Shea Moisture Jamaican Castor oil deep conditioner, paired with my JCO and leave in conditioner.
- Shea moisture Jamaican castor oil shampoo- every other week. No more than 2xs a month
- Strengthen grow and restore masque-weekly
- Jamaican mango and lime castor oil immediately following rinsing your hair. While it’s still damp (locks in the water)
- Strengthen grow and restore leave-in conditioner (I personally reapply every 2-3 days. Sparingly just to refresh my curls)
